And why “hope” and not another word? Because of the meaning behind it. Optimism is seeing the world in a positive way, but hope is different. Hope means that things can be different. It implies action, movement, and the willingness to create the future we want to see.
I would love for this watercolor, now transformed into a greeting card, to reach someone who may need a reminder that they, too, can hold on to hope. And if I ever forget, I would like someone to remind me that I can still show up, with hope, for others and for myself.
