California Native Plants: Greeting Cards From Watercolors, Chaparral Yucca

Chaparral Yucca (Hesperoyucca whipplei)

This California native plant waits several years before flowering, but when it does, it produces a spectacular flower stalk that can reach several feet tall.

Even more surprising... after flowering and producing seeds, the entire plant dies. It gives everything to that one magnificent bloom.

This spring, I painted two watercolors inspired by this incredible plant: one highlighting the delicate flowers up close, and another showing the beauty of the entire plant.

Every card is handmade with care and dedication in our studio in San Diego, California. Our process includes design, digitalization, printing, trimming, folding, and packaging.
